Costa Rica — Neighborhoods
San José — the adult scene concentrates downtown around Parque Morazán and Avenidas 1–3, the so-called Gringo Gulch: a cluster of casino hotels, sports bars, and massage parlours where independent providers work the hotel bars and apps. Selling sex is legal for adults here, which keeps the scene open rather than hidden; the surrounding blocks get sketchy after midnight, so move door to door by taxi. Barrio Amón and Barrio Escalante are the regular (non-adult) nightlife districts.
Jacó — the Pacific beach town 90 minutes from the capital is the second hub, with freelancers working the bars and clubs along the main drag (Avenida Pastor Díaz) in high season. Tamarindo and other beach towns have only a small informal scene; outside the two hubs most of the market runs through apps and apartment-based providers.
