Comprehensive travel insurance with medical evacuation is strongly advised: private clinics such as Clínica Alemana, Clínica Las Condes and Clínica Santa María in Santiago deliver good care but bill at international rates and expect a card or deposit up front. The public primary-care network (CESFAM) is inexpensive and legally obliged to treat emergencies, but consultations are Spanish-only and waits are long.

For STI screening, SEREMI-run CTS (Centro de ETS) clinics and the NGO Fundación Savia offer low-cost or free rapid HIV and syphilis testing. Post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) is available through hospital emergency departments within 72 hours.
