Bahamas — Visa & Airports
US, UK, EU and Canadian passport holders enter visa-free as tourists; stays of 30-90 days are stamped at the border at the officer's discretion, and onward tickets are sometimes checked. The Bahamas is not Schengen or US territory — it has its own immigration regime despite the proximity to Florida.
Lynden Pindling International (NAS) sits about 16 km west of downtown Nassau, roughly 20-30 minutes by taxi. It hosts US CBP preclearance, so passengers flying to the United States clear American immigration and customs in Nassau before boarding — arrive at least 3 hours early for US departures. Grand Bahama International (FPO) serves Freeport; Exuma (GGT) and Marsh Harbour (MHH) take direct US flights in season.
