Standard travel insurance is typically void here: most mainstream policies exclude countries under a government do-not-travel advisory, so you need a specialist high-risk policy of the kind sold for conflict-adjacent destinations, with medical evacuation cover — and medevac is the part that matters, because the public health system has collapsed and even good private clinics in eastern Caracas demand cash upfront and run short of supplies. Bring every medication you might need, including a full supply of condoms and any PrEP, as pharmacy stock is erratic. HIV and STI services have degraded severely with the crisis; test before and after travel rather than counting on in-country care.
