The licensed-brothel system
Nevada is unique. Counties with population under 700,000 may license brothels under NRS Chapter 244 / 269. As of 2026, around 18 licensed brothels operate in 7 counties: Lyon, Storey, Mineral, Nye, Lander, Elko, and White Pine. Clark County (Las Vegas) and Washoe County (Reno) are NOT licensed — solicitation in those urban areas is a misdemeanour.
Named licensed brothels
- Mustang Ranch (Storey County, ~30 min from Reno) — Iconic; the most internationally famous American brothel.
- Bunny Ranch / Moonlite BunnyRanch (Lyon County, near Carson City) — Featured in HBO's "Cathouse"; high public profile.
- Sagebrush Ranch (Lyon County) — Same operator group.
- Kit Kat Guest Ranch (Lyon County).
- Love Ranch (Lyon and Nye Counties) — Multiple locations under same brand.
- Sheri's Ranch (Nye County, ~1 hour from Vegas) — Closest legal brothel to Las Vegas.
- Chicken Ranch (Nye County) — Adjacent to Sheri's.
- Bella's Hacienda Ranch (Mineral County).
- Wild West Saloon & Brothel (Mineral County).
- Mona's Ranch & Inez's D&D (Elko County).
- Several smaller venues in White Pine, Lander Counties.
How licensed brothels work
You drive to the property (most are remote — visible from highways, signposted). Press a buzzer at the gate; you'll be let in. A "lineup" of available providers occurs in the parlour. You pick a provider, retire to a room, negotiate the menu and price privately, then exchange. Pricing is fully negotiated — typical short visits start at $300; longer experiences run $1,000+. Credit cards accepted. Workers are independent contractors; mandatory STI testing applies.
Las Vegas / Reno reality
In Clark County (Vegas Strip, downtown, the entire urban area), solicitation is a misdemeanour: NRS 201.354. Penalties include fines and potential jail. Sting operations target online platforms heavily — SkipTheGames, Eros, and similar are documented LVMPD enforcement channels. Casino-floor approaches by "escorts" or hotel-room flyer-services are mostly scam operations or sting bait.
What Vegas does have
- Strip clubs: Sapphire, Spearmint Rhino, Crazy Horse III, Treasures, Hustler Club Las Vegas — full-nudity venues with VIP/private rooms but no extras inside.
- Cabaret-format venues: Some Strip-area venues operate as touch-permitted cabarets but cross-the-line activity is criminal.
- Bachelor-party packages: Many tourist-targeting "limo to brothel" packages bundle a Vegas hotel pickup with a 1-hour drive to Pahrump (Sheri's/Chicken Ranch). This is the legitimate path for paid sex from Vegas.
Reno area — closest legal brothels
Mustang Ranch and Sagebrush Ranch are 30–45 minutes from Reno. Many Reno-based visitors do same-day round-trips. Kit Kat Guest Ranch (Lyon County, near Carson City) is similarly accessible.
Pricing reality
Nevada licensed brothels are expensive by international standards. $300 for the basic short experience; $500–800 for an hour. Premium providers and longer sessions easily $1,000–3,000. International tourists comparing to Frankfurt FKK (€60–150/hour) often find Nevada's pricing 3–5× higher. The premium reflects the licensing/regulatory cost structure passed to consumers.
Cash vs. card
Most licensed brothels accept credit cards — discreet billing varies by venue (some bill as "Bunny Ranch," others as a generic LLC). Cash is also accepted. Tipping standard 15–20% of session price.
Practical notes
- Many brothels have on-property bars, restaurants, and accommodations — you can stay overnight.
- Some require sober arrival — won't admit visibly intoxicated visitors.
- RV parking is common at most ranches.
- Reservations are often available online.
- Outside the licensed brothels, all paid sex in Nevada is illegal — no exceptions for outcall, escort, or platform booking even within Vegas hotels.
