Saudi criminal law is uncodified Sharia applied with wide judicial discretion, and procedural protections are limited by Western standards. If you are detained or accused of any offence, contact your embassy or consulate immediately and do not sign Arabic-language documents you cannot read or have not had independently translated. Be aware that passports can be confiscated and travel bans imposed during an investigation, potentially stranding you in the Kingdom for months even without a conviction, and that bail is not routinely granted.
