Buy comprehensive travel insurance before arrival — New Zealand's Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) covers injury treatment for visitors (including road crashes and adventure-sport accidents) but not illness, evacuation, or repatriation, and you cannot sue for further damages. Adventure activities (bungee, skydiving, skiing) should be explicitly listed on your policy.

For sexual health, Sexual Wellbeing Aotearoa (formerly Family Planning) and the New Zealand Sexual Health Society run clinics in main centres offering STI screening, PEP and contraception — often free or low-cost for residents, and available to visitors at published rates.
