Penang (George Town) — Upper Penang Road and Love Lane concentrate expat bars and guesthouses in a walkable heritage core.

Johor Bahru — city-centre hotels near JB Sentral and the Causeway cater heavily to weekend visitors from Singapore, with a well-known massage and karaoke economy. Kota Kinabalu and Kuching have smaller waterfront bar scenes; Langkawi's Pantai Cenang is duty-free beach nightlife rather than a red-light district.
