Standard travel insurance (World Nomads, SafetyWing, Allianz) is strongly advised — private hospitalisation in KL runs MYR 800–2,000 per night and few clinics bill foreign insurers directly. Confirm the policy covers motorbike accidents, as scooter crashes are the most common claim across Southeast Asia.

For discreet STI screening and PEP/PrEP, the Malaysian AIDS Council and PT Foundation (Kuala Lumpur) run confidential clinics; Klinik Kesihatan public clinics also offer testing but records are less private. Sunway Medical, Gleneagles KL and Pantai Hospital have sexual-health services. Emergency number is 999; tourist police can be reached on 03-2149-6590.
