Check coverage before anything else: many mainstream insurers exclude Lebanon entirely or void cover in regions under do-not-travel advisories, and war-risk exclusions have real teeth given the security situation since 2023. Buy a policy that explicitly names Lebanon, and read the advisory-zone clause. Beirut's private hospitals are historically excellent but demand payment or a guarantee upfront — carry your policy documents and an emergency-assistance number.

For sexual health, NGO-run sexual-health centres in Beirut offer low-cost, confidential HIV and STI testing and are accustomed to foreign clients; private laboratories test quickly for cash. Pharmacies sell most medications over the counter, but get tested rather than self-treating.
