Almaty — the country's nightlife capital: bars cluster around the Zhibek Zholy pedestrian street ('Arbat') and the blocks between Dostyk Avenue and Panfilov Park, from craft-beer bars to big clubs. The paid-sex scene is mostly saunas and apartment-based providers advertised on local 'dosug' classified sites, plus a long-documented street strip along Seifullin Avenue — the lowest-trust, highest-risk end of the market. Astana — quieter and more surveilled; nightlife concentrates in Left Bank hotel bars and lounges. Everywhere, the scene operates in a legal gray zone: selling is not criminal but venues get raided, documents get checked, and trafficking is a documented problem — nothing here operates with the openness of, say, Thailand or Germany.
