Italy — Visa & Airports

Italy is in the Schengen Area. US, UK, Canadian, Australian and NZ passport holders enter visa-free for up to 90 days in any 180-day period; from late 2026 the EU ETIAS pre-authorisation (EUR 7, 3-year validity) is required before boarding. Passports must be valid 3+ months beyond departure and issued within the last 10 years. The EU Entry/Exit System (EES) began biometric registration in 2025.

Main airports: Rome Fiumicino (FCO) and Ciampino (CIA), Milan Malpensa (MXP), Linate (LIN) and Bergamo Orio al Serio (BGY), Venice Marco Polo (VCE), Naples (NAP), Bologna (BLQ) and Catania (CTA) for Sicily.
