Icelandic króna (ISK). Iceland is effectively cashless — cards or phone pay for everything from fuel to hot-dog stands, and many visitors never touch a banknote; just make sure your card has a PIN for unattended fuel pumps. Tipping is not practised. Prices are severe: a beer in a downtown bar runs roughly ISK 1,200–1,800, and takeaway alcohol is sold only through state Vínbúðin shops with limited hours, which is why locals pre-game at home before going out near midnight.
