Finland — Visa & Airports

Finland is in Schengen: US, UK, Canadian, Australian and NZ passports get 90 days visa-free in any 180-day period across the whole Schengen area. The EU's biometric Entry/Exit System (EES) has been phasing in at external borders since October 2025 — expect fingerprints and a photo on first entry — and the ETIAS pre-travel authorisation for visa-exempt nationals is due to follow. Helsinki-Vantaa (HEL) is the main gateway, about 19 km north of the city; Tampere and Turku handle a handful of budget routes. Border checks are efficient but Finnish officials are strict on passport validity (3 months beyond departure, issued within 10 years).
