Finland — Neighborhoods
Helsinki — there is no red-light district; the visible adult economy is a few strip clubs around the city-centre/Kamppi area, and nightlife concentrates in the centre and in Kallio, the formerly working-class bar quarter north of the rail line. The paid-sex scene is almost entirely online-mediated and apartment-based, run through Finnish and international listing sites rather than street or venue contact; the small street scene Kallio had in the 1990s is long gone. Tampere and Turku follow the same pattern on a smaller scale: normal bar districts, no adult zone, everything discreet and arranged online. Public solicitation in either direction is an offence under the Public Order Act 2003, which is one reason nothing is visible on the street.
