Denmark — Currency & Money

The currency is the Danish krone (DKK); Denmark opted out of the euro and euros are rarely accepted outside airports. Denmark is functionally cashless — contactless cards, Apple Pay, and Google Pay are accepted almost everywhere including kiosks and taxis. MobilePay is the dominant peer-to-peer app but requires a Danish CPR number, so tourists rely on card. Some venues no longer accept cash at all.

ATMs (hæveautomat) are less common than a decade ago; Nokas and bank-branded machines rarely charge domestic fees, but your home bank's FX markup still applies. Tipping is not expected — service is included by law in restaurant prices; rounding up a bill 5–10% for good service is normal but optional, and taxi fares are typically rounded up rather than tipped.
