Indonesia — tipping customs and etiquette

Quick question for Indonesia regulars — anything changed recently?

Was there 6 months ago and had a great time but heard things are quieter.

Worth going back or try somewhere new?

First time there was overwhelming but exciting. Second time I knew the ropes and it was so much more efficient. Like most places, experience makes all the difference.
