Just got back from 10 days in Chiang Mai. Here's my detailed report.
Spent most of my time in the Nimmanhaemin area. Prices were 1500-3000 THB. The scene has changed a bit compared to my last visit.
Accommodation: Found a good hotel for $60/night within walking distance of the action. Clean, AC, wifi — all you need.
The girls were varied in quality. Selection was excellent.
Food was cheap and delicious. Found some great local spots.
Overall: Solid destination, highly recommend for first-timers.
Happy to answer any questions.

I was there in January and can add some detail:
Prices: Good value overall. I spent about $50/day on the hobby side.
Girls: Mix of local and working girls from other regions. Quality was varied.
My favorite spot was an agency I found online.
One tip: Go early in the evening for first pick.

Agreed on all points. One thing I'd add — make sure to book your hotel in advance.

Adding to this thread with my own experience from February:
Things are much the same as always since my last visit in pre-COVID.
Biggest change: Better quality overall.
Still a great destination. Solid 7/10.

Good info. I'd add that the late night is the best time to go.
