Returned from Japan last week. 1 week trip, visited February 2026.

Arrival and first impressions: Had a driver arranged in advance. Checked into my hotel near Tokyo Kabukicho.

Day 1-2: Explored the area, got the lay of the land. Noticed some tourist markups.

Days 3-5: Hit my stride. The Tokyo Kabukicho area was buzzing.

Prices: In line with expectations. Prices are pretty fixed here.

Tips for others: Learn a few phrases in the local language.

Would I go back? Definitely, this is now in my regular rotation.

What was your total spend for the trip, roughly? Trying to budget for mine.

Adding to this thread with my own experience from last month:

I noticed some changes since my last visit in 2024.

Biggest change: Prices have gone up about 20%.

Still a great destination. Solid 7/10.

Great report! Quick question — how was the hotel security?

Been going there for years and this is accurate. The scene has shifted a bit recently.

Good info. I'd add that the late night is the best time to go.
