Visited Central Mexico for 7 days. Enjoyable experience. Scene is as described. Pricing up slightly.
Spent $103/day. Best part: variety.
Overall: 8/10. Exceeded expectations.

Not sure I agree about that area. I found the outskirts to be better value.

How does it compare to Thailand?

What was your total spend roughly? Trying to budget for mine.

I was there in March and prices were exactly as described.
Spent about $86/day all-in. Quality was above average.
My tip: midweek is golden hour.

How long did it take to feel comfortable and find the good spots?

This is outdated info IMO. Things have changed since last year. Current prices are higher than what's described here.

Hmm, I had a different experience. Prices were higher when I went. Maybe timing matters.

Good info. I'd add that going during the week is much better — less crowded, better prices.

I'd rate it similarly. Solid 9/10 destination.

Quick question — how was the hotel security?
