Planning my first trip to Australia. Read through the older threads but wanted to check if info is still current.

My main questions:
1. Best area to stay for easy access to the scene?
2. Realistic daily budget including accommodation?
3. Any areas to avoid?
4. How is the quality compared to Czech Republic?
5. Any apps to use before arriving?

Coming from Canada with experience in Europe but first time in Australia.

Any recent reports or recommendations appreciated. Thanks!

Word of caution — some online profiles are fake. Other than that, great destination.

Been there 12 times now. Still one of my top destinations. The quality is what keeps me coming back.

Adding my experience: scene has improved since pre-COVID. Biggest change: more online activity.

Been going for years. Scene has shifted a bit but still good.

Quick question — how was the transport?

I was there in March and prices were about average. Spent about $120/day all-in.

My tip: try the local spots away from tourists.
