Just returned from 10 days in Hong Kong & Macau. Great trip overall.
Stayed near the main area, hotel was about $54/night. Clean and close to everything.
The scene is solid. Prices ranged from moderate compared to my last visit.
Girls were plentiful. I had 11 encounters over the trip.
Food was cheap and delicious. Street food was the highlight.
Will definitely be back. Happy to answer questions.

How long did it take to feel comfortable and find the good spots?

I'd rate it similarly. Solid 9/10 destination.

With respect, my experience was more mixed. But maybe I went at the wrong time.

Good info. I'd add that going during the week is much better — less crowded, better prices.

Interesting take but I think you overpaid. Try going midweek next time.

Adding my experience from last month.
The scene has improved since pre-COVID. Biggest change: more online activity.
